Oil on canvas · 80 × 60 cm · 2025
Some paintings make an impression the moment you see them. Others stay with you for a different reason.
They become familiar. You begin to notice them in passing - in the morning light, on a quiet evening, while walking through the room without thinking about them at all. One day you realise they have quietly become part of the place you call home.
Ground of Light has always felt like one of those paintings to me. It never asked for attention in the studio, yet it was often the one my eyes returned to without intention.
If you find yourself thinking about it after leaving this page, don't dismiss that feeling too quickly. Sometimes we recognise the paintings we want to live with long before we understand why.
